This hale is just a 10 min walk to Kehena black sand beach, (clothing optional), where if you are lucky you can swim with the spinner dolphins, 15 minute drive to “Ahalanui Beach Park” (a naturally warmed 95 degree ocean tidepool) a wonderful place to
begin or end your day, as well as Wai Opae Conservation tide-pools in Kapoho where you will find some of the best swimming and snorkeling that can be found on the east of our island. 50 minutes from Volcano National Park, 35 minutes from Hilo airport, and
12 minutes from the quaint village of Pahoa, which dates back to the 1800’s when sugar was king.
Some of the best dining can be found in Pahoa town with Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Italian, Tex-Mex and local Hawaiian. Old Hilo town is a must visit with its colorful farmer's markets, shopping, interesting museums to tell you all about the history
of this side of the island, all served up tons of "aloha".
