This was our first time ever renting a vacation house....we probably never again go to hotel. It was a exxellent choice, the house was so much fun and accommodating, we loved it!

My wife, my sister-in-law and I, shared and loved this rental. We would, rent it again.
1st a big Shout-Out to Juan, the person managing the property. Juan, thank you for being so kind. You are First-Class! You will understand the title after reading this. This home is a 5 minute walk to the famous Black Sand beach (clothing optional). The neighborhood is beautiful and very peaceful. Everything everywhere is green and lush. Absolutely fantastic. House property is big and also very well kept and green. Beds were comfortable. Good kitchen. Great living area and absolutely huge and fantastic balcony with a hammock, in which I slept two nights. There are many peaceful and cute Geico lizards. So, don't bother them. And, of course there's the Coqui frogs. It took us by surprise, how loud and constant they are. After two days, we have not only got used to them, we have fallen in love with them. And now, we miss them. I even recorded their sound, so we can play it at home on some nights. I give this home a very high rating, but, there is one flaw, the bathroom door. It is not solid. It is like a louvered window, that is always open. There is visual privacy, but not sound or smell privacy. lol

a guest from Seattle, Washington recommends this vacation rental

Overall, we were very satisfied and would (and will) recommend it to anyone staying on that side of the island. I would note only a couple small things: (a) the coffee pot didn't work, but we managed by doing a pour-over (b) After the first couple days, the ice maker quit working, but we bought a couple cheap ice trays and managed. We could have called Juan, I'm sure, but didn't see any reason to bother him. Otherwise, we were more than satisfied with everything. We realized, after the fact, that perhaps we might have liked being closer to Hilo or Pahoa for convenience's sake, but we did like being just a couple blocks from the beach.

Ryan E from Vallejo, CA recommends this vacation rental

My wife and I stayed at Hale Ki'i Nani for eight nights in June/July of 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed the property.

We arrived at night to an immaculately clean house, following the easy entry instructions on our own.

Our bedroom was just the right size. The kitchen was very functional - we cooked most of our meals there. All of the cooking basics are there, from a cheese grater to cooking oil to plates and cutlery.

Wonderful, spacious yard that was visited by the neighbor's ducks a few times each day. A few different types of fruit trees, but none were ripe, expect for the avocados, which were not particularly tasty.

A wonderful black sand beach was less than a ten minute walk away (this is a semi-nude beach, FYI). Not particularly close to much else, so a rental car is a must. Very interesting walks around the neighborhood though.

The animals and insects are astonishing loud the first night, but we soon got used to that and had to re-adjust when we got home.

If you are looking for a somewhat secluded house on the lusher side of the big island, Hale Ki'i Nani is a great option.

Cathy R from Pensacola, FL recommends this vacation rental

The yard is gorgeous and private and the best part is the huge outdoor lanai, living space, although it would be nice to have a dining table out there. Spacious, nice kitchen, very comfortable beds and linens. There is only 1 bath, so with 4 middle aged adults can be interesting in the morning...ha ha...Great location and neighborhood. I will definitely be back!

a guest from San Diego, CA recommends this vacation rental

This is a very well maintained vacation home. Simple but very tastefully furnished, comfortable and convenient. Property management is very professional and helpful. We liked all the little conveniences like basic initial bathroom and kitchen stocking, relatively new and good quality appliances, awesome patio second outdoor shower and great privacy provided by the tall green hedge all around nicely landscaped property.
Only downside were the coqui frogs whistling around all the night. Fortunately it was such a monotonous "concerto" that we, after the active day, usually stopped to perceive it and fell asleep anyway.

a guest from Kodiak, AK recommends this vacation rental

My husband, 1 and a half-year-old son, sister and I spent 16 nights at this house. It's in a wonderful location for accessing Kehena black sand beach as it's just a few minutes walk down the road. The house has a wonderful 2nd-story lanai and a very large yard. Unfortunately there was no lawn furniture to use outside which limited the use of the yard. The house also has a great outdoor shower. Juan was very helpful and provided us with a baby gate to use at the top of the stairs and otherwise the house seemed safe for our toddler. He enjoyed playing in the yard, and the driveway fronts a quiet street so we were also able to go for walks in the neighborhood. The house has all the basic necessities, though lacks the "extras" we've found at other rental properties (beach mats, snorkel gear, grill, spices, more kitchen stuff, etc.). We would consider staying here again.
