The coastal views and sunrises from Hale Pukana La (Sunrise House) will amaze you. Located at the end of the street for privacy, with crashing water on the cliffs for your constant entertainment, this beautiful oceanfront home is in the popular neighborhood of Hawaiian Beaches, about 20 miles south of Hilo.
Relax on the lanai (balcony) and see whales and spinner dolphins (in season) as well as turtles. In addition to the lanai, Hale Pukana La is one of the few oceanfront homes in this area that offers an oceanfront lawn enclosed by a lava rock wall instead of the more common rocky area. An oceanfront hot tub allows you to enjoy the view in a truly relaxed state!
You'll see sweeping views from the living room, kitchen and dining area, and one of the bedrooms. Glass is everywhere making the house light and airy. Tommy Bahama furnishings and terra cotta tile add to the tropical feel of the house, as does the owner's taste in local artwork with scenes from our famous volcano and its goddess, Madam Pele. The house has a fully equipped kitchen and a washer/dryer for your use. There is satellite TV and a DVD, a stereo, and high-speed Internet with an Ethernet connection for your laptop.
The master bedroom offers a double door entry and king bed with a beautiful Hawaiiana quilt. Off the master bedroom there is a private en-suite bath with tub and shower and a huge closet. The ocean-view bedroom has a queen bed and opens to the lanai. There is also an extra half bath for the second bedroom.
Not far from Hale Pukana La are Kehena (a natural black sand beach), snorkeling at Kapoho tide-pools (dozens of spring-fed tide-pools offering fantastic snorkeling), soaking at Ahalanui (the "warm pond" -- a large spring and ocean-fed pool next to the Pacific), and steam vents (a maze of short trails leading to natural lava steam rooms of varying sizes). Or just relax with a great book on your own private lanai!
