Enjoyed Shangri-La very much. Swimming in the lagoon transfixed all for hours every day. Black sand beach with great waves 20 minutes away. Unfortunately, there was construction noise from nearby property during the day. Without that, our stay would have been perfect.
here are the amazing things1. all the people i dealt with for this stay2. the property itself... extraordinary!3. the lagoon... who doesn't like to swim in warm water (just right, not hot) with fishes giving you little kisses on your legs3. the bedrooms, outdoor bed, hammock... all wonderful and beautiful places to relax4. the grand room .. big enough for yoga or just watching t.v. (i would have liked more channels though).. i know - who watches t.v. on vacation? .. i do5. the kitchen - everything one could want... we even had our groceries bought for us and in the fridge upon our arrival!6. the sauna and japanese hot tub (some nights after the lagoon we were chilled and these were perfect!7. last but certainly not least - the energy of the whole place... welcoming, calming and playful..we couldn't have asked for more... it actually was beyond our expectations and we will stay there again!

This place is amazibgly beautiful, gorgeously designed, well appointed and a GREAT place to chill yet close to a variety of sights and activities. We had 3 generations there, and all loved it from grandma to the tykes -- altho we thought it would be ideal for 4 couples too. We couldn't recommend it more highly.

The property is great, unique, and very comfortable and fun. I only withheld a single star because we were hit with a ridiculous rain storm that dropped 20 inches of rain on us, but I understand that is atypical of Kapoho. If you can hit the weather right, I would highly recommend!

Our breath was taken away when we entered the gates of Shangri La. Our family enjoys getting off the beaten paths of normal tourist routes and explore. Staying in Kapoho allowed us the opportunity to be with the locals, but at the same we were close enough to visit several normal tourist places such as rainbow falls, beaches, Hilo, etc. One trip that every family should take is the boat ride to the volcano. The four hour boat tour of the volcano and fishing trip absolutely was a trip no one in our family will ever forget. Celebrating two children graduating from college and our 30th anniversary, staying at Shangri La was the best decision we could have made and would do it again in a heart beat.
This place is magical! We enjoyed every bit of it: the thermal ponds and fish (water gear supplied), the shower, sauna and hot tub in the outdoor bathroom. The lush grounds are gorgeous; the different accomodations for sleeping are very comfortable. What a very SPECIAL place!!Thanks for creating all that beauty!!!!!Brady (concierge) and Eric (grounds keeper) were wonderful! Our family highly recommends this awesome place! We will have many wonderful memories from our visit here.
This is the most unique property we have ever rented. Being here made my teenage kids feel like little kids again, They did not want to leave, even to go out to tour the sites on the island.
The week we had at Shangri-La was the best vacation that we have had! The lagoon was wonderful and the home was a truely a piece of paradise. We are planning on returning again!
Brady was a fantastic host for our stay, catering to our every need. Our trip was business related and too short other than that a fantastic experience and I am passing it on to friends who regularly go to Hawaii and others who might make a visit to the Big Island
Secluded,tropical,convenient and well cared for and managed.Our family had a great time at Shangri La.We were able to enjoy each others company in a beautiful setting, yet also had enough space and activities near by to to enjoy time alone. Will be recommending to friends visiting the Island.
This is a one-of-a-kind property that offered many amenities. I would recommend this property to anyone, except families with small children due to the water located EVERYWHERE. My children, ages 14, 12, and 10 - all strong swimmers - loved it here!
A great place for our fmaily of 8 to stay. We loved being able to swim anytime we wanted and the privacy of the property. Brady was great and gave us the royal treatment. This place is very rustic and you become one with nature and the geckos.
